I don't want to sound whiney. But chemistry is hard. I am a chem major in college. And I'm starting to wonder if i'm really meant for this field. I know it is meant to be a challenge, but i feel this is too challengeing. How do I know when to say enough is enough and try to pick somthing else (and no i don't know what that something else would be)
if anyone can give me some advice that would be great...or even some helpful study tips (it is very hard to get tutor help at my school)
thanks |

Definitely talk to your guidance counselors. They are the people paid to help you with exactly that. They will have more answers than any of us.
I have a bachelor's in chemical engineering and I will agree with you that it is very hard. There is no getting around it, either. As with most technical degrees, the material is complicated and can be very mundane at times.
As with all important life decisions, you should weigh the pros versus the cons. |

Some tips:
Consider what exactly you want to do with your degree. PhD? Work as an analyst? Become a teacher? Be a glorified analyst and then find your way into management?
Talk to a lot of people to get an idea of what awaits you
As studying goes:
Try to read ahead: once you get a book in your possession: READ IT. Even if you dont' get it at all, the lectures will make so much more sense.! Dont wait with this until after the lecture, because if you dont get it then youll be on your own. |
